This page showcases just some of the sites I developed while working for Dimension X Corporation from 2006-2007. Most of the original graphics were created by a dedicated graphic designer. I was individually responsible for turning Photoshop mock-ups into complete, working websites. I used hand-coded (X)HTML + CSS and Flash, only where necessary, to create standards-compliant sites with a focus on usability. I developed this fun website for Del Monte Foods, owner of the 9Lives® cat food brand. It was intended to compliment a monthly e-mail newsletter that I also created and managed for three months. The e-mail newsletters and accompanying website were intended to promote Morris' Million Cat Rescue™ Campaign. The campaign has apparantly ended, and some links are now broken on the live site.
This was originally a very attractive website design. I'm particularly proud of the old film effect I created in the animated Flash header. Unfortunately, the site was modified since I finished it, and now there is a gap on top of most of the pages when using certain browsers. Even worse, music was added without any volume or playback controls. While the music does fit the theme, it starts abruptly, which may startle users, and it restarts when any new page is loaded. I would not have added music this way. Still, I like many visual aspects of this site.
The Bacharach website was one of my larger projects. It features over 100 pages of product and company information, so creating an optimal information architecture was a priority. This site is a semi-fluid design with a fixed minimum width. An interactive, 3-D product navigation menu was modeled to resemble existing Bacharach products and features a virtual display that changes with button rollovers. A language translation tool was also integrated to support international users.
In addition to developing this site, I did some of the initial design work and also created the Flash product animation on the homepage. This site also features an integrated Wordpress blog that can be edited by the client.
The Dynatemp website is probably my favorite of all the sites I worked on at Dimension X. It has been updated, but the design hasn't been compromised.
This is an example of an interactive "page flip" catalog I created in Flash for EIC Solutions. This used a commercially available Flash component that was customized for this project. To get the full effect, check out the live, external link above.
This was originally intended to be the first stage in a total redesign of the Elliott Company website. It's fairly plain and simple and was only intended to update the HTML code to current standards, fix layout issues, and include a new menu. However, it works well enough, and Elliott opted to use this design instead of something more elaborate. Notice that this is a fluid design that adapts to the size of your browser window. The site content has been updated since I finished the design, and unfortunately the "tab" menu on top is now exhibiting some spacing issues.
This website was very challenging due to the fixed-bottom navigation bar. At the time browser CSS support very was inconsistent, so it took a lot of tweaking and some browser-specific CSS to make it work. Unfortunately the navigation design choice defies usability standards, but it wasn't my decision to make. I do like the 3-D, animated navagation wheel I made. It adds a little bit of excitement and interactivity to the design. Check out the live site for the full effect.
